Andy has been an active member of the Honolulu Woodturners Club since the year of its inception in 2000 and has served in many capacities. One highlight was founding the annual Honolulu Symposium in 2009 which was successful for many years until the pandemic changed many things.
He has also been very involved with the American Association of Woodturners and has participated in every national symposium from 2003 through 2025. His involvement has included serving on the Board of Directors as well as many committees including the Professional Outreach Program, Symposium Planning committee, and Demonstrator Selection committee. The annual gathering of woodturning enthusiasts from around the world is one of the highlights each year for Andy.
