Andy’s nested set on display in Smithsonian

There are several local exhibitions that showcase the turned works of Andy Cole.

The “Hawaii’s Woodshow” sponsored by the Hawaii Forestry Industry Association is one event not to miss. Andy has exhibited and sold pieces in that show every year since 2003. Wood artists from across the state come to showcase wood furniture, turnings, carvings, and musical instruments made from some of the most exotic wood on the planet… Hawaii’s wood.

Nohea Gallery sponsors an annual exhibition for the Honolulu Woodturners. The presentation kicks off with turning demonstrations and an artists’ reception. Pieces remain on display for several weeks at the Ward Warehouse Gallery location.

A major highlight was when Andy’s natural edge nested Macadamia bowl set “Hawaiian Sixpack” was selected by the Smithsonian American Art Museum to be a part of the Renwick Gallery’s permanent collection. The exhibit titled, “This Present Moment” which opened in May 2022 was part of Renwick’s 50th anniversary celebration.
